Department of Adult Cardiology
Chicago is one of the great cities of the world, and Cook County
Hospital is its most renowned medical institution. Cook County Hospital
has a rich and storied tradition. Located just west of the Loop in
downtown Chicago, the hospital provides care to the underserved
population of Chicago's inner city, other residents of Cook County, and
to visitors to the Chicago area from across the country and around the
world.
County is also renowned for excellence in medical education and
research. A substantial percentage of US physicians have received
medical training at County as a medical student, intern, resident, or
fellow, and physicians at Cook County Hospital have made innumerable
contributions to the advancement of medical science and medical care.
In December, 2002, a new era began when the new Cook County Hospital
building opened, with all state-of-the-art facilities and new
information systems.
